Resumen:

All over the world the aluminum alloys applications has been increased over the last decade, principally due to its weight/strength ratio in aircraft and transport industry. The Al-Mg-Zn alloys has been used as sacrificial anodes for cathodic protection, in the present work the characterization of two new Al-Mg-Zn alloys, with modification on Mg and Zn contents, were performed. Several heat treatments were carried to modify the foundry microstructure. Corrosion tests and metallographic quantification of phases were performed, to find the sample with best heat treatment condition suitable for be an option to be used as anode sacrifice. Additionally we conducted a prediction of stable phases using Thermocalc software.
