Resumen:

The simulation and construction of a novel ultrasonic transducer for medical application are presented. The process starts with the simulation, using the necessary components involved in the construction of the transducer. The Finite Element Method (FEM) was used as a software tool in the simulation. Once the simulation was ready the transducer was constructed. Some important aspects in the construction process and performance tests are described. Previous research work in this area, carried out in our laboratory, has allowed to improve our designs, producing transducers with a better performance in the medical field. © 2011 IEEE.
