Resumen:

Phenological parameters are important for understanding ecosystems, analyzing climate change, and separating natural from human-induced processes. Satellite data can provide significant information for continuously monitoring the Earth's surface and in particular the state of vegetation. This study uses time series of vegetation indices to monitor the annual process of vegetation development. The study analyzes differences of two common vegetation indices (NDVI and EVI) and time series processing approaches. Furthermore it compares vegetation cycles of several years and analyzes the seasonality and temporal shift. Due to its biological diversity and wide range of ecosystems the country of Mexico deemed useful as study site. Patterns of variability were linked to known climatic conditions of specific years.
