Resumen:

This chapter analyses the relation between tourism, intangible cultural heritage and human-animal relationships in Mexico. In particular, it centres on bullfights and their heritage-making process and their legitimatization through the tourism market from a discursive perspective. Different official decrees and animal rights laws were used to make this discursive analysis. The results aim to establish that bullfights are a dissonant heritage in Mexico. There is a social dissonance between animal ethics and intangible cultural heritage discourses. © CAB International 2023.
