Resumen:

Research in older populations is necessary for scientific knowledge production aimed at improving older people?s health and well-being. However, a special approach to research ethics is mandatory to address the special needs of this particularly vulnerable group. In this chapter, we revisit the international ethical framework for research in persons to later discuss specific concerns related to the principles of autonomy, dignity, vulnerability, and justice in the context of physician? patient relationships, power relations, social responsibilities, and historical older people exclusions. © 2024 The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
